Smart, comfortable, yet casual is what you need to dress prim and proper in the U.K. Dresses are mainly worn by women, it is a historical form of dressing or we may rather call them the national costume. In many places, it is still taken as casual wear or leisurewear.

As history goes, all clothes were initially made to fit individuals by either the tailors or manufacturers. Sizes were based on

Horizontal Torso Measurements- this includes the neck, shoulder, chest, waist and upper and lower hip measurements.

Vertical Torso Measurements this includes back length, shoulder waist, bust-shoulder, bust-waist and the two hip-waist measurements.

Sleeve Measurements this comprises the length of the under and overarm, forearm, waist circumference as well as bicep circumference.

These measurements formed the base of the textile manufacturing, though the drape and fall of the fabric also remained a major element, on which the standard sizes depend.
